new picture

This is my new picture of Tavira doors
(click on it if you’d like a better look)

Many people have pointed out how minimalist casa az is, which I can understand as there isn’t much`superfluous’ furniture here. But mostly they notice that the walls are bare - this seems to strike people as very strange. Thing is, it isn’t that I want my walls to be bare, but I’ve never been one for putting up any old thing just to fill up wall space or ‘add a bit of colour’ to my rooms. I’ve been in homes where the walls were almost totally covered in pictures and somehow it worked in those places, but it’s just not for me. I always figured that I’d find things I liked poco á poco, that seemed to ‘belong’ somewhere in my home. So getting a new picture is kind of a big deal for me . . .

A week ago today the UK was hit by an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale. This latest report shows the irreparable damage done at the Lincolnshire Etch-A-Sketch Museum and comes as a blow to art lovers everywhere.

white whale haiku

moby-dick.jpg

I just had to share this after seeing it over on loricat’s booknook.

Especially as Moby Dick is one of those very few books that I’ve started on several occasions but have never been able to finish (well, until now ;) ), much to my friend Blues’s dismay. Luckily Blues still talks to me after the copy he sent me as a gift remains only partially read.

Hope you enjoy this wonderful illustrated haiku Moby Dick as much as I did.

sid in the city

starledger-1.jpg

Blog buddy John Pangia has just been interviewed by the Star Ledger, the largest newspaper printed in the state of New Jersey.

I’ve been hooked on Sid in the City ever since I came across one of John’s fab graphics while I was looking for a good image for my ‘poison popcorn!’ post.

Do read the Star Ledger interview and then stop over and check out what Sid has been up to . . . it’s quite fun and funny stuff. f_ok.gif

missing pieces

I found this over on planetdan whilst stumbling about this morning. The author had come across this rather poignant image on an online forum, which then inspired him to create the following rather brilliant ‘missing puzzle piece’ pics. Enjoy!

calling all picassoheads!

azar-sunny-picasso.jpg

PicassoCats are surreal . . .

Back in September I wrote this post which invited people to create their own self portraits using Mr Picassohead. I then started The Picassohead Gallery to display our work, but the response wasn’t what I had hoped for.

In fact, it was kinda sad-making. :(

So here is another chance to get all artsy and creative-like. To get your stuff put in the gallery just send the pic to me by email and I’ll take care of the rest.

az picassohead

az-picasshead.jpg

Check it out … Mr Picassohead.

A couple of years ago a friend sent me a link to this rather fun site and, this being a rather lazy Sunday, I discovered it once again and started playing around.

So this is az Picassohead with new short haircut, as well as one eye wide open and the other dreaming … and nose somewhat bent out of shape, which is usually my fault for being overly sensitive (click thumbnail for larger image).

And here is one of Nog - thinking about abstract stuff, as usual …

Also a couple of Picasso Cats you might recognise.

If you make one of your own it would be great if you left a link to it here. f_artist.gif

what kind of wine are you?

You Are Sauvignon Blanc

Engaging and energetic, you have a lot to offer the world - most of it they’ve never seen anywhere else!

You are the type of person who carves your own path in life… and you invite everyone else to come along.

The only thing predictable about you is that you could have anything up your sleeve.

You’re all about sampling all of life’s experiences. Both the savory and unsavory ones.

Deep down you are: Laid back and young at heart

Your partying style: Anything goes… seriously!

Your company is enjoyed best with: Smoked meats or spicy food

What Kind of Wine Are You?

f_redwine.gif Swiped from SG V who usually swipes quizzes from me (that are usually swiped from somewhere else), but who didn’t happen to like yesterday’s ‘How Creative Are You?’ quiz so he found this one instead, which I have to say I also like better … but I still think those coloured pencils are rather cute, don’t you?f_bubbly.gif

And yes, this is soooooo me!  :)
