Cabanon Press

These images are a selection of the weekly illustrations produced by Tom Gauld for the Guardian Saturday Review letters page. Each image relates to a letter sent to the newspaper about literature or the arts.

I stumbled upon this site the other day and thought you might enjoy it too. :)

beverly hills - ha!

Well, it made me laugh out loud, so I thought I’d share . . .

From the fabulous Sid in the City.

Finally… a practical use for stem cells

In just about an hour, your local Glamour Doc can perform the procedure. All it involves is injecting what Celution calls a ’super-charged’ fat mixture into the patient’s breast tissue. Then you just sit back and wait, because over the next couple of months your boobs are going to grow, and grow, and grow.

Do go and check out the entire post - it’s very funny. :)

the wire

the-wire.jpg

Have just started watching series one … it’s very good!

The Wire was recommended awhile back and last week I saw the first series DVD on Amazon for a good price, so I decided to try it out. Very impressed. I love the grittiness of it, that the actors all look like real people … and I totally l-u-r-v-e the groovy cool soundtrack.

Compared to Anne Tyler’s Baltimore, it’s quite unrecognisable.

no more scrabulous?

Facebook asked to pull Scrabulous

Facebook has been asked to remove the Scrabulous game from its website by the makers of Scrabble.
The Facebook add-on has proved hugely popular on the social network site and regularly racks up more than 500,000 daily users.
Lawyers for toy makers Hasbro and Mattel say Scrabulous infringes their copyright on the board-based word game.

This seems rather poopy of Hasbro and Mattel. I’d bet that out of those half a million daily users on Facebook, most of them already have the board game, or have since bought one as a result of Scrabulous.

I sure hope this won’t affect email Scrabulous! :?

house series 4

~ note to nursemyra … this is my idea of eyecandy ~

The first episode of the fourth series was on TV last night and it was fabulous. The writing is as sharp as ever and I didn’t actually miss the three characters that ‘resigned’ at the end of last season. In fact, I think they had probably run their course and a shake-up like this was what the series needed for it to stay fresh.

Funny how hearing the theme music come on made me realise how much I’d been missing this programme. I got all nostalgic, especially as it was my first foray back into television watching last February, after about 15 years.

No spoilers please! :)

chapter and verse

I’ve spoken here before about my West Wing addiction

Have recently finished all seven series and am now rewatching them to use as a teaching tool with a couple of my students, which means I have to come up with questions for each episode. Today I got up to episode 3 in series 2 and loved this scene so much I wanted to use it on a debate forum on h2g2 … and hey, there it was on Youtube. And now here it is for you. :)

sid in the city

starledger-1.jpg

Blog buddy John Pangia has just been interviewed by the Star Ledger, the largest newspaper printed in the state of New Jersey.

I’ve been hooked on Sid in the City ever since I came across one of John’s fab graphics while I was looking for a good image for my ‘poison popcorn!’ post.

Do read the Star Ledger interview and then stop over and check out what Sid has been up to . . . it’s quite fun and funny stuff. f_ok.gif

‘Shut up’ Chavez is ringtone hit

The king of Spain’s recent undiplomatic outburst at the Venezuelan president has become a ringtone hit across Spain.

Here is the MP3

What’s the weirdest ringtone you’ve ever heard?

stumbleupon

I re-stumbled upon Stumbleupon this morning . . .

I actually signed up there last July but never got around to doing anything with it, mostly because I wasn’t keen on having another toolbar on my page. But today I had another look at it after I found a ‘referrer’ coming from there, and it looks like it could be fun. Like yeah, as if I don’t already spend too much time online. f_whistle.gif

Anyhow, one of the first things I stumbled upon was this great web-radio thing called Musicovery … which now means that I’m going to have to attach some proper speakers to SB. But some of the music there is fab!

So I’m still quite a Stumbleupon novice. Can anyone give me any tips on how best to use it? Or even how you use it and what your experiences there have been like?

My Stumbleupon name is azaharSevilla.
