Ever wonder what other people’s desktops look like?
No, me neither until I came across this desktop me-me over at ish’s.
Anyhow, here are mine . . .

I love the way you arrange your icons with respect to the wallpaper. I do that too!

All the better to see them with, m’dear. I once had wallpaper that was full of oranges & orange blossoms and I could never find my icons. I tried placing them in the centres of the oranges but in the end decided to change it to something that had some blank space around the images.
SB has a rooftop shot of Casa Batlló in Barcelona, and the bottom pic was taken in Cádiz.

Yeah, but how do I post a picture of my desktop on my blog?

Me loves the first ones wallpaper!

Thanks, Ashish. That’s my favourite building in the whole world (well, that I’ve seen in person). I used to have that photo on both computers but I recently saw the sunflower one and decided to try something different on the Jaguar.
WC, hold down the Ctrl, Alt and Print Screen keys together, then go to something like Paint (if you’re using Windows), click on Edit and paste. Then save the image as a jpeg, re-size it (these ones are 480×300) and upload it here.
At least, that’s what I do.

Right, desktop posted
Oh, and the martini of course sits on my work PC

Yours is very nice, Ole!
I’ve just changed the sunflower to the original one I had on the Jag … from a trip Nog & I took to Cádiz on his birthday a couple of years ago.
I’m told it looks a bit gray but it’s a nice personal memory and I love the sparkly water.

Sorry, no joy. A) I have Vista and the only thing that’ll paste is a generic Windows background. B) I don’t have a paint program. I tried using Open Office Draw but it didn’t work.

Wandering Coyote, get one of the lastest versions of GIMP. That will work on Vista fine.
Then grab a PrintScreen as azahar says, start GIMP, New, leave it at the defaults, Then when the new blank image opens up, go to Edit -> Paste as New and a new window will pop up with your screen grab pasted. Click on the Image menu -> Scale and set the resolution [I use 500x500] and click ok. Save it where you want and you have it. Hopefully this will help.

Oh and Azahar, could you send me that wallpaper? I looooove it.

My desktop displays a constantly changing selection of photos, it changes automatically every minute with a random choice from my iPhoto library. Sometimes it surprises even me with something I’d forgotten I’d taken!

Archie told me he has the same desktop setup, truce. It sounds quite cool but isn’t it sometimes hard to find your icons?
Ashish, sending both pics now – glad you like them.

azhar, thanks very much! The waves adorn my desktop now as well!
Oh and WC, I missed something, you can grab a printscreen using the Windows Key + PrintScreen.

@Wandering Coyote – You can Google for a software called ‘IrfanView’. It is the most amazing light weight picture manager ever! You can resize/resample your images with it too.

ah yeah ish, i reckon you told me about that too. It is pretty good and very easy to use

I really like the “Sexy Beast” one. My desktop is so boring.

Thanks mystarbucks, and welcome!
The Nasa Photo of the Day website is another great place to find wallpaper pics. I have it on my sidebar but often forget to have a look (so many blogs, so little time). I found this spectacular northern lights photo today over on Archie’s blog.
I used to live in northern Manitoba and have had the extreme good fortune of having seen the northern lights many times. They truly are breathtaking.

Thanks for all the advice! Not sure I want to go through all that just to post a picture of my desktop on my blog, though. It’s not THAT exciting…

Are you sure you don’t have Paint, WC? It should come with Vista. Did you check under ‘Accessories’ in your All Programmes list?
