Yay! I’m 52 today!
I’ve always loved birthdays and have never understood people who fret about “getting older” because, as I’ve always said, it sure beats the alternative. And of course this year that statement carries a lot more meaning for me after everything that’s happened since last May.
So today I will be quietly celebrating. Starting off with going back to yoga class! Then I’ll be going out for lunch with Pipocas – haven’t seen her for three weeks because she’s been away on holiday, so I’m really looking forward to that. And at some point during the day I’ll open the cava that Pablo brought over on Christmas eve. Otherwise and that, I’ll probably just hang out at home with Nog and the cats and play with my iPhone … and just really enjoy being here.
So help yourself to a glass of bubbly and welcome to my birthday!

Happy Birthday! It’s not your birthday here, yet, but 8 more hours …
Hope you have a fabulous day! Yay Yoga! Yay cava! Yay Pipocas! And most especially, yay for being alive for another year and being able to celebrate. I wish I was there for a birthday hug. We’ll save it for Greece, I guess.

Happy Birthday! I say the exact same thing as you about birthdays (heck, I’ve been known to celebrate the entire month); you’re right though, much more meaning this year. Enjoy your day!

I third the motion about birthday grinches. “Still Here” is a pretty good motto.
I trust we get a complete report on the lunch menu.

Happy Birthday, az! You’re only as old as you feel, and as young as you act.
It’s been a rough ride, this year, but things are looking up, and, hey, you got an iPHONE!!!

Delayed gratification at its best, Beth. Gosh, it would be so great to do that … also great motivation for getting well again as soon as possible!
“heck, I’ve been known to celebrate the entire month”
A girl after me own heart, Kim. Yes, “birthday month” sounds about right to me. 🙂
Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes, everyone!
I stayed up until midnight and then posted this, then had a quick birthday chat with Pip on skype, then played with the birthday cats for awhile (video footage of Azar being cute is starting to pile up – really must learn how to edit) and finally got to sleep around 1am. Then I stupidly woke up about two hours ago (5.30), so I’m not sure if yoga class is still going to happen today as I’m feeling pretty zonked. It starts at 8.30 and I’d have to get there early to sort out the free month they owe me, etc …
Ah well, if not today then definitely on Friday. But I’ll be doing my 45 minute slow-but-sure “bike ride” in any case, so I won’t be totally slacking off.
“I trust we get a complete report on the lunch menu.”
Ya think, Sledpress? Oh alright, I guess I can do that … 😉
But for now I think I’ll try and get some more sleep … all of a sudden I can barely keep my eyes open.

Turns out I must have needed more sleep because I just woke up again about half an hour ago. So here it is 10 o’clock in the morning and I’m still in bed having coffee. The birthday cats are curled up next to me and it looks like it might even turn out to be a sunny day (but I’ve been given strict instructions from nursemyra to not use the new washing machine today).
Started reading Maskerade last night – thanks again, Silverstar, it’s excellent!
So all in all, the 52nd birthday is looking pretty good so far.

Bit late on this one it seems – but Happy Birthday! The Many Happy Returns bit of the old fashioned greeting seems somehow appropriate!

A very happy birthday to you, Mz az! So glad that your state of health seems to continually improve, I am certain you will be around to celebrate many more.
I too am an aficionado of looong birthday celebrations and have been known to make them last for weeks. A full month has escaped me so far, but at least I have a goal now.

Due to my religious background, I’ve never celebrated birthdays and don’t miss them. Perhaps I should start, now I’ve abandoned the faith. Hope yours has been fun, anyway.
And here’s to many more for all here.
