How ironic that a couple of hours after writing about how happy l was yesterday enjoying having time to myself at home l suddenly doubled over in pain and took to my bed. But the pain just got worse and worse and at 10pm l found myself in a taxi heading for Emergency. After several tests they put me in the observation room and ran more tests.
Have just found out that they want to operate this afternoon to drain the liquid they found in my lower abdomen. They also think l may have a fistula which may result with me ending up with a (temporary they say) colon bag thingy – aaargh. But it seems there’s nothing for it. I shall be going under the knife around 6pm.
Terrified? You betcha. Watch my Twitter (not Facebook) feed for updates.

I hope it all turns out to be something simple and non-scary. I know it’s impossible not to worry but if good thoughts count for anything, you know you have a lot of people thinking and hoping hard for you.

I remember when I had my appendectomy, my surgeon looked as if he should still be in school! Looking on the brighter side, his relative youth could well mean he has a sharper eye and maybe a steadier hand too. Glad they have made a speedy diagnosis and are planning to act promptly. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Again, much love. xxx

Have a zipper fitted, it’ll make it easier to drain your tummy next time 😉

Finally in my room and waa able to plug in iPhone.
Re: operation. There was a huge abcess on my left ovary and whole lower abdomen area was full of pus. They cut out the abcess and most of
ovary (why not whole thing no idea) and drained all the ice out. Biopsy results should be in a couple of weeks but they are optimistic it’s not cancer.
Good news is that colon and peritoneum looked healthy, there was no fistula and l didn’t end uo with a colostomy bag. but I’m sliced from sternum to pubes again. Might gi home Friday, more likely Monday. Should have laptop tomorrow which will be nice. Today l mostly want to sleep.
Thanks for being there with me, here and on twitter (not checking Facebook). It’s really helped me feel better.

I figured that was autocorrect not liking a misspelling for pus? maybe.

Glad you’re recuperating. Except for the stem to stern (um) thing, it’s very positive. Ug, think of all that pressure the abscess was creating. Ow. I’m very glad they found it.
